I have always loved to read anything and everything. There are few things better than being cuddled up on a rainy day, with a good book and cup of tea. Books are a blessing. They provide an opportunity to exit our world and enter the world of the characters. Just for a little bit you get to forget all that’s going on around you and put your attention elsewhere.
I can honestly say that without literature, my life would be completely different. I would get in a lot more trouble that’s for sure. I don’t know how many arguments I have spared myself by burring my head in my books. It’s what I do when I’m stressed or angry, it helps take my mind off of it.
Reading is not always for everyone though. Some people don’t have the patients to sit and read, others don’t have the time. That’s why audiobooks are so helpful to a lot of people. You may not get the wonderful smell of the new pages, but you do get the opportunity for something new.
I know a lot of people think that those who read a lot are nerds and can’t also be into athletics. This is not the case. I love to read but I love basketball and football just as much, so those high school stereotypes don’t always fit. Everyone has their own thing. Own it. Whether its basketball or yodeling, do what makes you happy, and do it well. And remember it’s ok to take a little time for yourselves every now and then.
“Maybe this is why we read, and why in moments of darkness we return to books: to find words for what we already know.” -Alberto Manguel
I really can’t imagine my life without books…
